We recommend you redesign your website every two years, three at most. Older websites don't have the back-end information (JSON. Schema, AMP & More) that helps search engines find and display your products or services across the web. You can read more about that here. Older websites usually aren't user friendly on mobile devices

Traditional Web Design

There are two ways to go about website redesigns: Traditional Design and Growth Driven Design. 

Traditional Design is "the build it and leave it" method. It's built quickly and not touched or updated for a few years. This is the least effective way to approach it. 

The website is ok for the first 12 months, and then for the next few years it becomes increasingly outdated. 

Growth Driven Design

GDD is the new way of approaching web design. It's faster, never becomes outdated and has a much smaller up-front cost. 

With Growth Driven Design your website is always being improved, updated and expanded upon. Unlike traditional web design which is based upon very general "best practices", Growth Driven Design is data driven. A/B testing is used to determine which changes increase performance.

Which Method Is Right For You?

It depends. If your website isn't a priority, or you don't need inbound leads, then traditional design may be the way to go. 

But, if you're sales team relies on inbound leads or eCommerce, then I highly recommend GDD. Don't waste time and money driving traffic to your website if the conversion rates are poor. That's like trying to catch water in a colander (strainer).
